We are excited to introduce the newest member of the Pinewood team Gabor Nagyvaradi, our Food & Beverage Manager.
What inspired you to follow a career in hospitality?
Everything started back in 2008 when I arrived in the UK. My first job in hospitality was as a waiter at the 5 star, Radisson Hotel in Mayfair, London. After a few years there, I moved to a leading event and nightclub venue, returning back to my love of hospitality, working at the Corinthia London then The Royal Air Force Club, also in Mayfair, three years later.
A few months ago, I made the decision to relocate to Manchester and joined the Pinewood team and ‘family’.
What have been your career highlights so far?
I am a strong believer that “hard work always pays off”.
In 2019 I won “The President of the Gastronomes” award from the Reunion des Gastronomes. This is a members club for senior figures from the hotel and catering industry that has a mission to develop, support and promote the culinary arts.
In 2020, having finished my studies with Umbrella Training I won the “Best Hospitality Manager Apprentice” award at the Purple Umbrella Awards. These awards celebrate top hospitality apprentices across the UK, recognising their commitment to lifelong learning and achievements over the last 12 - 18 months.
It was a real honour to win both these awards in quick succession.
Have you served any celebrity guests?
I have met and served quite a few! Dwayne Johnson, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Bernie Ecclestone, Bill Gates, the crews from Star Wars and Game of Thrones, Manchester United Football Club and last but not least I have been honoured to serve Her Majesty The Queen.
How do you spend your spare time?
I like doing CrossFit, and I am a qualified judge for this sport. In the past I used to attend many CrossFit competitions where I enjoyed being a judge. My job has allowed me to travel around the globe, with my trusted camera always posed, ready to capture those special moments.
What do you enjoy most about your job and working with the Pinewood team?
The best part of my job is definitely working closely with my hardworking team. In such a busy establishment it amazes me how well the whole department works together and how everyone is committed - it truly is like one big extended family!
Training is a huge part of my day and I really enjoy seeing the progress of my colleagues.
Any big plans for Pinewood?
The hospitality sector is the most dynamic of industries, especially when the global situation is not stable just yet. I joined Pinewood with the view that I can make a difference in my department. My aim is to take our customer service to the next level drawing on my experience in five star establishments and developing my team to enjoy a fulfilling career in hospitality at the Pinewood.
