We're so excited to be welcoming back our couples to continue their wedding planning for this year and beyond. It’s been a real rollercoaster over the past 12 months and we can fully understand and appreciate how newly engaged couples may be nervous of naming a wedding date.
However, with the recent news that Prime Minister, Boris Johnson and fiance Carrie Symonds are planning their wedding for summer 2022, this is a firm indication that wedding ceremonies and receptions will soon be getting back to normal.
If you would still prefer to take a more cautious approach we’ve put together a handy guide of what we would advise you to book initially and what can wait until we receive confirmation you can go ahead unrestricted.
Secure the essentials
There are a few key elements of your day that you should book as soon as you’ve decided on a date. These are the date specific suppliers and services and we would always recommend these are booked promptly.
- Registrar (civil ceremony) or Church
- Wedding Venue
- Photographer
- Florist (if you want a particular style)
All of the above will have time frames that you can hold a date without a deposit or options to move if restrictions change. For our weddings at Pinewood we’ve simply moved all arrangements and deposits to a new date and we presume most suppliers have done something similar, though it’s always wise to check. Keep a note of deadline dates either on a spreadsheet or in a diary so you can confirm as and when you need.
Save the date
You both know the key people that you want to attend your wedding day, so make sure these have the date pencilled in. Generally, you would give wider family and friends 3 - 6 months notice of your wedding. Therefore, if you’re booking for summer 2022, you don’t need to send anything to these guests until the New Year, and everything should be much clearer by then.
Intimate weddings
As restrictions stand, at the moment 30 people can attend a wedding ceremony and reception indoors. There are restrictions on dancing and social distancing, which are due to be released at the end of June, but if your special day was always going to be a more intimate affair rather than a huge party, then we’re ready when you are!
We’ve held a number of smaller weddings over the past year, with couples using our wedding gazebo, function rooms, and gardens for different elements of the day. Our new addition for this year has been our own beach, so if you’re switching from getting married abroad you can still feel the sand between your toes!
Wedding appointments and show rounds
We can now welcome couples to view our ceremony and function rooms and start to discuss their wedding day with us. To ensure we have one of our expert planners available we would recommend making an appointment where our wedding co-ordinators can take you through our wedding packages and offers and discuss which of our rooms is most suited to your day.
